Budget camping safari
Same parks, same guides, a fraction of the lodge cost
Park fees are the same whether you sleep in a canvas dome or a suite with a plunge pool, so camping is where real savings live. On our camping safaris you travel in the same private Land Cruiser with the same professional guide, but nights are spent at public campsites inside the parks with our own cook producing three hot meals a day over gas and fire.
The trade-off is comfort — shared washrooms, a mattress on the ground, an early wake-up as the camp stirs. The compensation is the sound of hyena and zebra outside the tent, and a budget that stretches to more days in the parks.

What does a budget camping safari actually include?
Park fees, a private 4x4 Land Cruiser and guide, a cook travelling with you, dome tents and mattresses, all meals and drinking water, and nights at public campsites inside or beside the parks. You bring a sleeping bag or rent one from us.
Are public campsites safe?
Yes. They are inside park boundaries with ranger presence, basic toilet and shower blocks and a cooking shelter. Animals pass through — your guide briefs you on simple rules, such as not leaving the tent alone at night.
How much cheaper is camping than lodges?
Typically 25–35% less than a mid-range lodge safari of the same length, because accommodation rather than park fees is the variable cost. Park fees are fixed by the government and identical for every traveller.
Can we mix camping and lodges?
Often the best value: camp in the Serengeti where lodges are most expensive, then upgrade to a lodge on the Ngorongoro rim for the crater morning. We price mixed itineraries routinely.
